December 2006 saw the publication of the World Bank’s latest annual Global Economic Prospects report, setting out the Bank’s vision of the global economy until 2030, including its latest projections for poverty. This brief challenges the report’s projections, examines the substance underlying the rhetoric, analyses the Bank’s assertions and assesses the case if the Bank’s projections were to be a reality. Essentially, the brief argues that the Bank’s projections are meaningless.
