An Account of the Civil Society Launch of the "IMF - Shrink It or Sink It" campaign at the IMF/World Bank meetings - Singapore

As part of International Civil Society’s “Shrink It or Sink It†campaign, an event called the International People’s forum vs. the World Bank and IMF, comprising two sessions – one in Batam, Indonesia and one in Singapore. The Singapore event was intended to make clear that civil society forces would not cede the space entirely to the IFI’s, and would launch a campaign to eliminate the IMF in full view of the press covering the annual IFI meetings. This article, written by Soren Ambrose of the Solidarity Africa Network (Nairobi, Kenya) describes the context within which the event was held and the event itself. It goes on to argue that the message emanating from the event: that the time to end the IMF’s power had come.
